Did ya miss me?? (*Varnell Hill Voice*)
Apologies for not keeping up with our blog posts, but we wanted to take some time out and wish everyone happy holidays. It's been an interesting year and we feel like we've learned so much since the launch of kottay.com. Whether you're just passing through and have no idea how you ended up on this site or if you've made multiple purchases from our site, we wanted to say thank you and we appreciate the love and support. We're excited to see what the next year will hold. With that being said, we're not huge on resolutions but here are few things we hope will/won't carry over into 2016 =) :
Stay in 2015:
Man bun clip on - You've seen it. I've seen it. It can't be unseen. Please do not come into 2016.
Hoverboards* - $500 hover boards that you can't ride anywhere unless you're a celebrity.
*If these come down to like $29.99 sign me up for falling and breaking my back in 2016.
Adele ticket prices - We get it, she's uber talented and who knows the next time she'll be performing in the states? But $700/800 for a pair of tickets are no dice.
Move into 2016 :
There's really only one thing we're looking forward to. DJ Khaled for vice president 2016 #BlessUp !!!
That's all folks! We'll leave you with a few of our favorite Christmas snaps. Happy Holidays!
We're taking a little break from our travel posts to reminisce about the 90s. Bad Boy hits, the pogs game (that no one knew how to play), and oversized Tommy Hilfiger and Nautica jackets take us back. But the tv show that really takes us back is the Martin tv show ('94-'97), starring the hilarious and talanted Martin Lawrence!
We decided to continue our Martin Appreciation by compiling our favorite episode from each season. This was super difficult… actually damn near impossible, but we've tried our best. Check it out below!
I ddon’t edwewdefe
Top Episode: "Forever Sheneneh"
Why we love it: Out of all the characters Martin played on the show, Shenehneh and Jerome may be our favorites. Shenehneh running serious game on Kid was everythingggg. Take that 40 to the head girl!
MVP: Of course Shenehneh
Honorable Mention: "Checks Lies And Videotape" - Everythang gonna be alright with David Alan Grier as Rev. Leon Lonnie Love.
Top Episode: "Suspicious Minds"
Why we love it: Ok so it's almost unfair to give just ONE episode the honors of being on top for Season 2. There were so many classic episodes in season 2 that really defined the series. This has to be the MVP season! With that being said, the "Suspicious Minds" episode was a standout. From Martin's one on one interrogations, to the group meeting in all black, and the ID of the culprit this one takes it from beginning to end.
MVP: (Spoiler!) Bruh Man AKA the Culprit
"Hollywood Swinging (Part 2)" - Jodeci featuring Martin Payne? Come on we need that album.
"Fat Like That" - Broccoli Pops for that summer time treat.
"Control" - We learned what it takes to give Myra a pedicure.
Ok we'll stop listing now, but you get the point, Season 2 is undeniable!
Top Episode: "Romantic Weekend" AKA Chilligan's Island Episode
Why we love it: Season 3 was another strong season in the Martin series. It would probably rank as our second favorite season based on the number of episodes we can watch over and over again. The Chilligan's Island episode was physical comedy at its best. Watching Martin and Pam unite for a common good was inspiring! We'll always be wary of any vacations off cereal boxes. #LessonLearned
MVP: The 'Puppy'
"Wedding Bell Blues" - Hustle Man's wedding planning skills put to the test.
"The Closer I Get to You" - Martin's face when he realizes Tommy and Pam are together is probably the same face we make when we find out Popeye's runs out of biscuits. NOOOOOOO
Top Episode: Headin' for Trouble
Why we love it: DAMN GINA! This episode was signed sealed and delivered by Tisha Cambell Martin. Who else can give a big presentation at work with a headboard/wig combo and win over clients? #CareerGoals
MVP: Gina Payne
Honorable Mention: "D.M.V Blues" - Any episode of Martin fighting Ms. Geri deserves an honorable mention. Probably one of the most relatable and STILL relevant episodes.
True Martin fans know this season isn't a true Martin season. There are some hilarious scenes sprinkled throughout, but we think of this season as the season that shouldn't have been. Lets not even go there with Season 5. Nope. Not today.
That's our list! Let us know what YOUR favorites are by hitting us up on Instagram, Twitter, and Facebook @KottayCo !

The second leg of our Euro trip took us to the great city of Amsterdam. We've heard nothing but great things about the city, so our expectations were greater than that Meek Mill diss record we were waiting on last week… But in this case, Amsterdam, did not disappoint one bit. We loved the food (yum!), the melting pot of people, and just the laissez faire attitude of the city (RLD!).
One of the first things we noticed about amsterdam (besides that interesting smell… hmm) was the number of bikes, bike riders, and bike lanes. This is probably the easiest and fastest way to get around the city. We learned tourists far outnumber the locals (almost double). The bike lanes are one of the few things the locals revere. While we found the locals to be friendly folks, the bike lane is one thing they won't let tourists take over. Which basically means, you better know how to ride or get out of the way. Way out the way. To help locals identify the tourists, the local bike shops usually provide bright colored bikes to tourists (http://www.macbike.nl). We rented out some Mac bikes to get the full experience, and highly recommend riding around the city for anyone planning on visiting.
Below are a few bike life snaps from the trip:

We're back like Jordan wearing the 4-5…
Took a short (way too short) hiatus from the NYC/NJ hustle to go overseas and visit Barcelona and Amsterdam. If you've been following us (@kottayco) on the 'gram/'book/twitter/whatever else, you've probably already seen a couple snaps from our trip. Our first stop on this trip was the great city of BARCELONA.
Friends and family told us all about the beautiful architecture, seafood, and sangria (salad!). However we were very unprepared for the celebrations and festivities that happened after the FC Barcelona team won the UEFA Champions League. On our first night in Barcelona , the team won the trophy, and made history by being the first European team to win the treble (three trophies in a single season), TWICE.
It kind of sounds like we know what we're talking about, right? Well... full disclosure we're not biggest futbol fans out there, but after being in Barcelona for this win we may have to change our minds. We have never seen and entire city just erupt, have that much pride and just celebrate for days on end. It was an unforgettable experience, not to mention the most memorable part of our trip. We wanted to share a few pics from the celebrations/festivities from the historic win below.
Day 1: The first night, right after the win! @ Font de Canaletes
Day 2: Victory Parade with the Barca Players and their Fans!
someone's patience is running low waiting on these barca players...
they're here! Barca! Barca! Barrrrca!

Our latest T-shirt ("Greetings from Jersey") - was inspired by our home state of New Jersey (don't roll your eyes!). We're not sure why the first impulse people have, when you tell them you're from NJ, is for them to tell you how much they dislike NJ. Nice to meet you too. For all the haters the Garden State has, we think the state really has the best of all worlds (city, parks, and shores).
With summer approaching we know plenty of Jersey folks (and new yawkers) will be spending some time DTS. We're sharing a snap we took pre-Hurricane Sandy down by Seaside Heights.
Summer Days. Jersey. We Ready.

Oye! The hot NYC weather today had us reminiscing about last summer (which was equally muggy/humid/sweat-terific). For a few weeks, we had a chance to shoot in Union Square every Saturday. Plenty to capture including; chess tourneys, farmers markets, shoppers, skaters, ballers, nappers, smokers, dancers, and a bunch of other shenanigans.

Street photography is one of our favorite genres. The unknown story always turns into the best story. It's an art that we're continually trying to improve upon. The photo below was taken years ago in Sheung Wan, Hong Kong. It was taken in a hurry and completely at random. However looking back on this picture it's one of our favorite shots taken on the trip. Exploring the endless steps (yes - it was a workout) of Sheung Wan, and never knowing where the steps would lead, have left us with this moment:
We wanted to share some of our favorite snaps (and food) from Hong Kong! When abroad it's always key to try and experience the culture. Our favorite way to do that is through our stomachs! =)

We already posted technically our first blog post, but we have to make things Official-Official with this post. We're excited to launch Kottay!! We're more excited to launch the site with our first collection - "HK Dreams".
A few years ago we went on a business trip to Hong Kong and it ended up becoming one of our favorite cities in the world. The food, culture, and just overall energy of the city absolutely wowed us. The trip gave us a great opportunity to capture some amazing shots, and we're happy to be able to share these with you.
We hope one day to return, but for now we'll gear up with our HK Dreams Collection.
